Jacksonville's Historic Cemetery is open
to the public 365 days of the year. The main gate is opened
at 8:00 a.m. each morning and locked at sunset each evening.
All visitors must depart the cemetery by sunset. The cemetery
is patrolled by the Jacksonville Police Department who make
a final drive through before locking the gates for the evening.
The main entrance is located at North Oregon
and D Streets in Jacksonville, Oregon. Entering Jacksonville
on Highway 238, which becomes 5th Street, watch for D Street,
(just past Ray's Grocery store) and turn right. Proceed down
D Street to North Oregon and cross over to the cemetery entrance.
You may drive through the arch at the entrance and proceed
up Cemetery Road. There is parking available around the traffic
circle at the top of the hill. Should you decide to drive
around the cemetery, we ask that you proceed with caution
as the roads are quite narrow and have curbing and grave markers
on both sides of the roadway.

Monument Restoration and Cleaning
As you walk the cemetery grounds you may
come upon a headstone or monument that is receiving restoration
work. There may be yellow tape around the site with notice
that the marker is currently being worked on. Volunteers with
the Friends of Jacksonville's Historic Cemetery have been
trained in current and proper techniques to restore and clean
these fragile stones, which is both safe and will not harm
the stone. Larger and more complex restoration work is contracted
out to professionals who have both the knowledge and tools
to properly restore these historic treasures. Call 541 826-9939
or email us for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
